FRESHMAN – Continue to research jobs related to your interests. Visit Iowa Choices portal at ICANsucceed or
educationplanner to do research.
۰ Make the most of your summer. Search for summer camps in your area of interest (i.e. sports, band, drama or academics. Complete your Upward Bound Continuing Application.
SOPHOMORE – Visit ICAN’s website for a list of Iowa college Fairs taking place this spring. Ask your UB contact person about going to a spring college fair.
۰ Join spring school activities, including athletic teams, clubs and service organizations. Take leadership positions when possible.
JUNIOR – Summer WorkStudy applications are due March 1. This is your opportunity to earn $8.50 an hour. Juniors will be able to earn $510.00 (non-taxable) during the WorkStudy program. You will be able to work in a career field that you are interested in pursuing. E-mail Phyllis if you want more details.
۰ Continue to research outside funding sources for college

۰ Register and study for the ACT exam if you have not already done so. Registration Deadline is Friday, March 7.
۰ College Visit to Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo scheduled for March 19, 2008. Anyone interested in Wartburg or UNI can be picked up the same day. Let Phyllis know by email.
SENIOR – ۰ Submit your FAFSA(Federal Application For Student Aid) if you haven’t already done so.
۰ Watch the mail for letters of acceptance. Let your contact person know if/when you receive your acceptance letter for a college.
۰ Look for your Student Aid Report in the mail if you have filed your FAFSA
۰ If you haven’t received an (SAR) and it has been more than four weeks since you sent in your FAFSA then contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center at (319) 337-5665.
All Iowa Opportunity Scholarship The application is available at: https://www.iowaonline.state.ia.us/csac/aios/aios.asp. First priority will be provided to students whose applications are received on or before May 1, 2008. Awards will be made to students whose applications are received after May 1, 2008, only if funding remains available after all renewals and on-time, eligible applicants have been served. Priority for awards will be given to students who participate in the federal TRIO Programs while in high school, to applicants who graduate from alternative high schools or alternative high school programs, and to homeless youth.
