Sustainability Tip: Bring your own cloth or fabric bags when you shop. If you do this once a week, in five years you’ll have kept 250-1,000 grocery bags out of landfills. When one ton of plastic bags is reused or recycled, the energy equivalent of 11 barrels of oil is saved. Re-use the plastic bags:
• Old bags make great in-car trash containers.
• Use them as shoe protectors in the garden.
• Clean up kitty litter, or pick up dog droppings.
• Use them in your smaller waste bins.
• Fill a few with shredded paper and tie them off for cheap, reusable packing materials or maintain the shape of your favorite tote.
• Cut a slit in your bags and use them to protect clothes from dust, moths, and other pests.
• Take them with you for easy disposal of diapers.
Wellness tip of the Cycle:
Try organic. There is no conclusive evidence that organic foods are more nutritious than conventionally grown foods. However, by not ingesting potentially harmful pesticides, fungicides, insecticides and fertilizers, consumers are spared the health risks that have been associated with the use of these chemicals. http://www.pizzasalad.com/organic-facts.htm (from Luther’s Tuesday)
Study Skills
Your listening skills, note taking and ability to manage your learning sessions will be the prime determinant of your academic success now and later in life. Add more learning strategies to your arsenal of successful learning techniques.
