Year/Workstudy
Tutors
Afternoons (Monday through Thursday)
we send tutors out to our contact schools to work with students
on whatever subjects they need help with. Tutors are paid for both
their time on the road and the time the spent in the schools themselves.
Tutoring groups generally range from 1 to 15 students (two tutors
are sent to schools with larger groups). Typically tutors work one
or two days a week but may work more if they have the time and desire.
A college car is provided for transportation and a monthly meeting
is scheduled to receive additional training and express concerns.
Minimum Requirements: sophomore standing or higher and a valid
drivers license
Drivers
Once a month we have students
come to campus for a weekend workshop. During these events, we need
drivers to pick students up from their respective schools on Friday
afternoon and to drop them off at home on Saturday afternoon. Anyone
interested in driving for us will be provided with a college vehicle,
written directions, and a map and will be paid for all time spent
on the road. A potential driver may agree to drive either Friday
or Saturday afternoon or both. Occasionally we have cultural activities
at various times throughout the school year when we may also have
need for additional drivers.
Minimum Requirements: valid drivers license (must complete campus
driving test to drive 15 passenger vans)
Chaperones
During our monthly weekend workshops students sleep on campus Friday
nights. They are housed in either Main classrooms or in the Good
Shepherd church near campus. We need responsible chaperones to stay
with our students from approximately 11pm until 8am the next morning.
Chaperones usually work in pairs and are paid for 5 hours of work
each (this number is due to the fact that much of the time is spent
sleeping). Duties generally involve managing noise levels and mediating
student conflict. The phone numbers of permanent staff members are
always available to contact in the event of any emergency. Students
are usually well behaved during weekend workshops and are expected
to be so. A chaperones main objective is to act as an authority
figure and to report any emergencies or suspicious activities right
away.
Minimum Requirements: sophomore standing or higher

Office workers may schedule
their hours between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday during the

them
